Take a good look at this toy shop, because it probably hides more surprises than it first appears. Under the white glow of the ceiling tubes, the cardboard snowflakes and the golden garland catch your eye first, while the red, gold and blue garlands cast warm reflections across the shelves. Every detail is drawn with a pen, with fine hatching that gives depth to the plush toys and rolls of gift wrap.

At the back of the aisle, a red paper lantern watches over a pile of teddy bears, while a yellow rubber duck and an old brass trumpet wait at the feet of the planes hanging from the ceiling. You can almost picture the shopkeeper on Christmas Eve, still tidying up the toys that have fallen from the shelves before closing the shop.
